Netherlands World Cup 2018 Preview
The Netherlands reached the finals of the 2010 world cup finishing second to Spain. They finished third in world cup 2014 losing to Argentina on penalties in the semi-finals.
Could 2018 finally be the first time this great footballing nation gets their hands on the greatest footballing trophy of all?
I think they can and heres why:
The Netherlands 3 greatest stars of the previous tournaments Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben will each be 34 and ageing by the time the next world cup comes around, but they are all vastly experienced players and at this stage of their careers they could be set for one last hurrah and inspire on the younger dutch generation.
Players such as Daley Blind and Kevin Strootman and Wijnaldum will be in their primes by the time the next world cup comes around, with an abundance of young talent such as Memphis Depay, Spurs recent signing Vincent Jansenn, Davy Klaasen, Quincy Promes coming through.
Powerful centre backs Stefan de Vrijj, Virgil Van Dijk and Jeffrey Bruma will form a world class back line in the primes of their careers.
Jetro Willems and Bazoer are other players that i expect will develop into very good young players by 2018.
So although the Netherlands failed to qualify for euro 2016, the future is looking very bright indeed....
A lot of the Netherlands chances at the next World Cup depends on the development of their young stars in the coming seasons. After failing to qualify fo Euro 2016 finishing fourth in a group behind Iceland, Czech Republic and Turkey, the next generation will be hungry the restore pride to the country. Their group in qualifying isn't the easiest as it includes France and Sweden but I believe they should be strong enough to come through it.
What this blog is about?
In this blog I will talk about each teams chances at the world cup in 2 years time aswell as stars who will made a big name for themselves at that stage in their career and also players who may fade away.
